Comprehensive Assessment

Assessment sessions usually done over two sessions, each 50 minutes long. It gives us a chance to get to know you and what you are struggling with. Assessment sessions will cover the difficulty you seeking therapy for (including current pattern of eating and physical health for eating disorder assessments). We will also discuss your life more generally, your upbringing, your current circumstances, as well as your hopes and goals for the future.

You might have an assessment as part of an ongoing package of therapy or as a stand-alone session. Stand-alone assessment sessions include a written report, a feedback session, or both. You will recieve a preliminary undersanding of your difficulties (formulation), as well as any recommendations (e.g., therapy, GP monitoring, NHS service involvment). An assessment provides an opportunity to see whether we are the right service to offer support to you. If we are not able to provide ongoing therapy, we can help signpost to services who can.

Stand-alone assessment packages (report or follow-up session required).

Eating Disorder Therapy

Seeking help for an eating disorder can feel overwhelming and you may be in two minds about whether you are making the right decision. Our main priority is get to know you, to understand what you are struggling with, and build a space where you can feel safe to make changes. The main models offered are: CBT for eating disorders (including CBT-E “Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy” for eating disorders), MANTRA (Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults), and Compassion Focused Therapy.

Eating disorder therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and are recommended to be between 10-40 sessions in total, depending on diagnosis and rate of recovery. Eating disorders are complex and you may need multi-disciplinary care (e.g., high level of physical or emotional risk). If we feel that a different service could better support you, we will always open and upfront about this and can help in signposting to the best service for your needs.
